Introduction
Division for class 2 for children can be taught by making them understand the concept of distribution. That is how things have to be equally distributed among the equally and fairly in a simple concept. However, you can show them a relevant example of all this. So that they can understand all the things very easily and quickly.
For example
You have the ten mangoes and have to distribute them among the five people equally.
So how you can distribute all the mangoes equally among the five people?
First, you have to make 5 groups
Then you give one mangoe to each person until all the mangoes are distributed.
At last, we have to count the number of mangoes that each person got in each group.
Hence, each group will get the 2 mangoes.
The main principle of the division is to fair distribution and equal sharing. However, it is among the primary operations in arithmetic apart from addition, subtraction, and multiplication. Hence the division is exactly opposite of the multiplication. In this, we divide the number into equal parts.
The division is mainly constituted of four parts. Such as dividend, divisor, quotient, and reminder. Let’s look at them one by one.
What is Dividend?(division for class 2)
The dividend is referred to as a number that is being divided.
For example, 30 divided by 5
Then here 30 is the dividend, It is the number that got divided.
What is a Divisor?
Divisor is the number from which the dividend is divided
For example, 60 divided by the 10
In this 60 is got divided by 10. Hence in this, the number 10 is the divisor.
What is the Quotient?
The answer we get after dividing the dividend by the divisor is called the quotient.
For example, we have to divide 28 by 7
Hence by dividing 28 by 7, we will get the answer. Which is equal to 4. And the result 4 is the Quotient.
What is a Remainder?(division for class 2)
From the name itself, you come to know that the left number. After the completion of the division process is known as the reminder. Because when we divide any number it is not necessary that we can divide that completely and we left 0. Hence the leftover number is known as the remainder.
Let us look at the example, Hence let the number 30 be divided by 7
And in this division, we will get the 2 as the remainder. Where 30 is the dividend and it is divided by the 7 which is the divisor. And the result we will get is equal to the 4. But all in this process also get the leftover which is equal to the 2. Because we cannot divide 2 further with the 7. Hence the remainder of this division process is 2.
The relationship between the Divisor, Dividend, Quotient, and the Remainder
Dividend = Divisor * quotient + Remainder
For example: Divide 30 by 7.
When we divide the 22 by 4, the quotient is 5 and the remainder will be 2.
Dividend =30
Divisor =7
Quotient = 4
Remainder = 2
Let us begin substituting the values in the formulae to see how it works;
Dividend = Divisor X Quotient + Remainder
Signs of Division
We can denote division with the help of the three symbols ➗, ∕,⟌.
For example
100 ÷ 10
100 ∕ 10
100⟌10
Properties of Division
The division has the following properties(division for class 2)
- When we divide any number except zero by itself then we get the quotient is equal to 1.
- Dividing a whole number by zero will always result in a quotient that cannot be defined.
- If we divide zero by any number, the quotient will always be zero.
- When we divide the whole number excluding zero by 1. We will get the quotient itself
- In the division problem with no reminder. In it, we multiply the divisor and the quotient, and we will obtain the dividend.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Division is the process of sharing things equally among the people. It is all about the fair distribution of the things. For example, if you have 10 mangoes and want to give them to 5 people equally, you make 5 groups and give one mango to each person until all mangoes are shared. Each group then has 2 mangoes. The division is the opposite of the multiplication. It has four parts. dividend (the number being divided), divisor (the number dividing), quotient (the answer), and remainder (leftover, if any). And its formula is Dividend = Divisor × Quotient + Remainder.
Hence, Division helps us share things equally and understand how numbers relate. It’s a cool way of splitting things!
